Post-Intake of S-Ethyl Cysteine and S-Methyl Cysteine Improved LPS-Induced Acute Lung Injury in Mice
The effects of S-ethyl cysteine (SEC) and S-methyl cysteine (SMC) on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury in mice were examined. Eight hours after LPS challenge, SEC or SMC was supplied in drinking water at 0.5% or 1% for 3 days. LPS increased lung myeloperoxidase activity, neutrophil counts and edema. SEC or SMC post-intake attenuated these events. SEC or SMC suppressed LPS-induc...

A new method for the preparation of S-trityl(i.e. triphenylmethyl) and S-diphenylmethyl-cysteines or -cysteine peptides involves treatment of cysteine or cysteine peptides with aralkylcarbinols in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid or hydrogen halides in acetic acid solution. The optimal conditions for the removal of these S-protecting aralkyl groups by trifluoroacetic acid or hydrogen halide...

متن کاملEffects of S-Propargyl-Cysteine (SPRC) in Caerulein-Induced Acute Pancreatitis in Mice
Hydrogen sulfide (H(2)S), a novel gaseous messenger, is synthesized endogenously from L-cysteine by two pyridoxal-5'-phosphate-dependent enzymes, cystathionine β-synthase (CBS) and cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE). S-propargyl-cysteine (SPRC) is a slow H(2)S releasing drug that provides cysteine, a substrate of CSE. The present study was aimed to investigate the effects of SPRC in an in vivo model o...
